Yes, that's right...this IBNETLLC website uses open source software.
We have downloaded various software's source code; short-listed those selected for visitors and those for internal-business purposes only; customized the look to match the website's base design; modified some and added more functionality as desired and voila, here you go! Our basic infrastructure is a 'content management system' or CMS software called, "Mambo." Adding content is easy enough for those who are not real familiar with HTML. This page is an example of a content page.
Whenever you see the icons, and on this website, they are for print and E-mail, respectively. The E-mail feature is to recommend the article to a 'friend' and is inherent in most CMS software. Another feature available to our visitors is a list or 'directory' of open source and non-open source web-based, desktop, and other software you may want to consider for your applications. The software used is "phpLinkDirectory." Of those listed in the directory, we have selected various software applications for installation and evaluation; others were not although their link was added for you to see if it fits your needs. Visit this list periodically since it may be updated at any time. You will find this list via the 'Downloads' link in our menu. For our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) system, we have decided on a 'knowledgebase' software. Sometimes these terms are synonymous depending on the software, although they may differ. "Knowledgebase Publisher" was chosen since it allows our visitors to submit a question to us via the 'Ask Question' feature. Upon receipt of this submission, we would evaluate the question to determine whether to add it and its answer to the knowledgebase for general public viewing. The main purpose for this feature is to provide immediate answers to our visitors' common questions. It also helps us from a labor requirement perspective. You can find this feature via the 'Support' link in our menu. We have added a 'helpdesk' feature. The software is called, "OTRS" (Open source Ticket Request System). This is also used to assist us with our labor requirement in addition to providing another dimension to our customer support services that customers are preferring more often. It provides us and our customers with customer request histories so that we can provide even better support to our customers, staff, vendors, suppliers, etc. It provides a 'ticket tracking' numbering system for easy retrieval; incident tracking and history on how a solution was found or not found in some cases; and so much more. If you cannot find answers to your questions elsewhere on this website, you can find the link to our helpdesk via the 'Contact Us' link on the menu. Also, as part of your IBNETLLC experience, we have provided you with links to resources we felt may be of interest to you, whether for your website or for informational and/or training purposes. You will find this feature via the 'Resources' link in our menu. There are many web-based software solutions you can choose from to integrate your physical business or the "Real World" with the "Virtual World." It does not matter whether you have a single employee, a telecommuting staff, or support multiple physical locations. Implementing web-based applications can broaden your business and customer base nationally or internationally. In essence, you have access to tools that can convert your organization from a 'fixed border' to a 'near borderless' organization thus toward greater profitization. But, it first begins with changing your mindset to fit that of this 21st century. Close the gap between the "Real World" and the "Virtual World" so you can 'go global' and gain that competitive edge.
